The IFRS Foundation launched an interactive tool to help jurisdictions develop approaches for the adoption of ISSB standards into their regulatory frameworks.
According to a news release, the Roadmap Tool can help with decision-making in four areas:
- Regulatory process: How to adopt or otherwise use ISSB standards.
- Reporting entities: The entities that will be subject to the requirements.
- Requirements: The specific content covered in the sustainability-related disclosure requirements.
- Readiness: Addressing effective dates of the requirements, setting a suitable timeline, and understanding whether there should be a scaled or phased-in approach.
The IFRS Foundation also made templates for jurisdictional approaches.
The tool “equips regulators to make informed decisions about their approach towards adoption or other use of ISSB standards”, ISSB Chair Emmanuel Faber said in the release.
EU unveils sanctions support for SMEs
A new service aims to provide support for small- and medium-size entities (SMEs) navigating sanctions compliance.
The EU Sanctions Helpdesk will offer a range of services designed to help SMEs comply with EU sanctions, a news release said.
“The Helpdesk will work with partners including public authorities, business support stakeholders, financial institutions, and international sanctions and compliance organisations,” the release said.
The focus on SME support is, according to the release, due to the lack of compliance support resources for SMEs when compared to the resources of larger companies.
GRI research looks to improve transparency around lobbying
A new research report from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) highlights scrutiny on whether lobbying efforts align with public interests and sustainability commitments.
“Lobbying is a routine aspect of how companies engage with governments, but there are growing concerns over transparency and accountability,” a news release said. In the report, the GRI highlights risks such as regulatory stagnation, delays in addressing global challenges like climate change, and policy decisions being directed away from the public interest from political influence over business practices.
The research includes practical suggestions for organisations to improve transparency and accountability in lobbying activities and highlights the case for clearer reporting on political influence.
