Shanghai government entity publicly recognises CGMA designation

The Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau has published its designation recognition of high-level professionals.

The Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau (HRSSB) has included CGMA designation holders on its list of recognised international and China professional qualifications.

The Shanghai HRSSB said that CGMA designation holders and exam complete candidates who have completed the CIMA CGMA Professional Qualification (PQ) strategic level examination will be included in the A List of Shanghai Overseas Professional Qualification Certification Recognition, according to a news release. CGMA designation holders who are fellows of CIMA will be included in the Category B list and Category C list and corresponding to the Professional Title Level.

The policy encourages holders of international qualifications, such as CGMA designation holders, to develop their careers and life in Shanghai, promoting the city as an international financial and business centre.

“Shanghai has always been at the forefront of China’s international opening up,” Andrew Harding, FCMA, CGMA, chief executive—Management Accounting at AICPA & CIMA, together as the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, said in a statement. “It is an inclusive, innovative and enterprising city. International openness means that more high-level professionals will bring diverse experience and expertise to the development of major industries and enterprises in this city.

“We believe that the policy will raise the awareness of CGMA and encourage more Chinese professionals to participate in our international leading qualifications in order to expand their career and seek great success.”

The recognition of CGMA designation holders should help Chinese companies attract and retain high-level finance and accounting professionals, the release said.
