By the end of this year, there could be more smartphones on the planet than humans, says equipment-maker Cisco, and by 2016 there could be 10 billion smartphones.
Looking to 2020, Cisco predicts 50 billion devices of various kinds connected. According to Wim Elfrink, Cisco’s head of globalisation, at present only 0.2 per cent of such devices are connected.
